We are making a difference, with strides for a better tomorrow, today. One of the many ways we are doing so is by working toward several of the sustainable development goals set forth by the United Nations “a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.”
Sustainability is important to the work we do and the world we live in. That’s why we have created a senior leadership-sponsored Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) Committee, representing all of our FFP sites and including people from a variety of departments working together on a number of work streams.
Our Sustainability Actions
Reducing Waste
We are addressing the recycling of single-use plastics and composting across the enterprise, as well as implementing a battery and small electronics recycling program at all sites. An active R&D initiative is investigating effective waste stream valorization, and we are now engaged with a sustainability consulting firm to carry out environmental assessments of all of our manufacturing sites and life cycle analyses of key products.
In an effort to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles, we will be providing high-quality drinking vessels to all staff and will ensure filtered or water coolers are available to all.
Sustainability by the Numbers
Reduced single-use laboratory plastics by 340 lbs. in one month at one location and have moved to compostable types at another
Repurposing spent coffee grounds from FFP’s roasting facility to accelerate composting process at local landfill
Routinely recycle 800 drums and 1200 pallets per month
Offset about 60% of the power needed to charge forklifts and operate a key warehouse, with our first renewable energy project
Certifications, Compliance and Conduct
We hold ourselves and our suppliers to the same high code of conduct.
We currently hold several certifications and are looking to expand them to more supply points. For example, our facility in Melville, New York is SMETA audited and we are investigating SEDEX membership across the enterprise.

Investing in the Future, with People
Our staff has identified community non-profits as potential partners. We are engaging with local food banks at our 6 key sites for their fall drives.
Through the IFT’s Florida Section, FFP has established an undergraduate and graduate scholarship for students studying in the fields of food science, food engineering, food microbiology, and culinology, with the first two awards presented in February 2022.
In partnership with University of Florida’s Dept. of Food Science and Human Nutrition, FFP recently sponsored students with the non-profit organization Taste of Immokalee on an educational visit to the university.
Let’s make a difference, together.
Serving the Community
Team FFP recently held a Thanksgiving food drive for Lake Cares Food Pantry. We contributed 458 pounds of food plus a monetary donation, totaling 20,000 meals for those in need!
We are proud of our FFP Acts team for making a real difference in our community.
